Betoptic-S Eye Drops 5ml is a medication used for treating elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It contains two active ingredients, betaxolol hydrochloride (0.25%) and sodium chloride. Betaxolol hydrochloride is a beta-adrenergic receptor blocker that reduces the production of aqueous humor in the eye, thereby decreasing intraocular pressure. Sodium chloride is added as a tonicity agent to adjust the osmotic pressure of the solution to that of the tears in the eye. Betoptic-S Eye Drops are administered topically in the eye. The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily, or as directed by a physician.
